Courses I Teach
Teaching was never on my list of probable, or even possible, careers as I went the undergraduate education. It is my belief that the destination is much less important than the journey itself. In my experience and ultimately becoming a teacher I have found that my experiences in life are quite valuable in the classroom or one on one with a student. Once I started teaching, it was the signal I found in the experience that said this was for me.
The courses I teach throughout an academic year, and summer teachings are the Applications for Teachers (EDUC 301); Web Design Intro course, the Advanced Web Design class and most recently I have been teaching Multimedia Design and Production (EDUC 678), an EdS level course. Only one or two of these courses are required, yet all seem popular at any given semester. I love teaching these courses because of the use of technology and I see students come into the classroom ready and very eager to learn. They leave the course with newly gained knowledge. They have some of the most creative ideas that one could dream of which makes the classes exciting and fun as well. The end results are interesting and impressive projects.
Here are the courses and their descriptions:
COMM / CISS 270: Intro to Web Design
An introductory course in graphic and web page design and development. This course introduces computer software for creating interactive web pages and web sites, featuring color scheme and other basic design principles
COMM / CISS 271: Advanced Web Design

EDUC 301: Computer Applications for Teachers

COMM / CISS / EDUC 493: Mulimedia Design & Production
This is a fun course covering multiple applications that would be potentially used in a multimedia designing situation. The class members all become part of a designing firm and take on the roles of the various firm members. These are the positions of videographer, SME (Subject Matter Expert) AKA Content Specialist, Project manager, graphic designer, audio engineer etc. Combined into one, these students learn each others areas and build one final product for the completion of the course.
EDUC 575: Technology in the Classroom
I love teaching teachers. This coure is in the masters of teacher education program. This introduces students to various technologies that can be used to enhance teaching / learning. Included are various theories that support the concepts behind using technology in teaching. In the conclusino of the course, theory is brought to practice and there is a full understanding as to appropriate times for the use of technologies.
EDUC 675: Mulimedia Design & Production
This is an advanced course in the Lee University Ed.S. program. The course covers instructional design and technology theories and bridges the theories with daily practices in teaching. The course allows students to be introduced to multiple applications that would be potentially used in a classroom setting; both K-12 and Higher Education. The class members all learn the parts of a designing team and take on the roles. Combined into one, these students learn each others areas and build one final product for the completion of the course.
